Job Title: Software Engineer, Testing
Description
We are currently seeking skilled testers at all levels to join our Testing Centre of Excellence. The key role of the testers will be to ensure that the system functionally and technically performs as expected. The roles are based in Scotland however you will be required to travel to client sites throughout the UK and to be open to working within Functional and Non-Functional aspects of the Testing lifecycle.

We are looking for testers with experience in at least one of the following areas
- Application Product Test
- Application End to End / Integration Testing
- Performance Testing
- Infrastructure / Operability Testing
- Testing Automation

Successful applicants will be responsible for the undertaking test preparation, scripting using tools such as Test Director / IBM Rational Functional Tester / WinRunner / LoadRunner and QuickTest Pro.

Testers will take the design documentation and develop appropriate and thorough test conditions, scripts, cycles, data requirements and determine the expected results. You will be responsible for the execution of scripts, documentation and analysis of results. Throughout this process testers should look to apply their expertise and skills to deliver high quality deliverables and utilise standard methodology and templates.

As a Tester, key responsibilities may include:
- Defining test cases and scenarios to prove functionality and subsequent execution of test cases during application product and end to end testing
- Identifying code defects during execution and managing the defect through the defect management lifecycle
- Assisting in the integration of technical and application components to meet business requirements
- Leading a test cell and reporting status on their activities
- Supporting the technical design process by participating in the analysis of technical application requirements and investigation of defects
- Participating in implementing the technical infrastructure, including networks, platforms and servers, enterprise enabling, application enabling, security and operations management
- Maintaining, tuning and repairing applications to keep them performing according to technical and functional specifications; providing user support
- Executing conversion plans and document possible improvements; identifying disruptions in the processes.

Experience Required:
- Have experience of working in a similar testing role in a delivery environment
- Have previous experience in test planning and execution
- Have a good knowledge of testing methodology and processes
- ISEB Foundation Certification or equivalent would be an advantage
- Knowledge of test management tools such as Test Director

Additional Experience would be beneficial:
- Basic development skills in SQL, C or VB
- Test automation skills – QuickTest Pro, WinRunner
- Performance Testing skills – LoadRunner

Professional Skill Requirements:
- Ability to work as a team member
- Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
- Desire to work in an information systems environment
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Flexibility

Special Considerations
- This Edinburgh-based role will involve spending a large proportion of time at client sites across Scotland and the UK so full flexibility with project location is essential.
