To £18,000 depending on skills and knowledge.

The role
The purpose of this role is to provide front-line support, advice and troubleshooting services to staff, faculty and students on all aspects of computer and audio visual equipment usage. There are also opportunities for project work.
Duties will include:
To resolve allocated calls logged on the Help Desk system, usually at the customer's workstation.
To help and advise customers coming to the help desk
Install new computer equipment and peripherals.
Provide cover for the Help Desk phone line as required.
To be responsible for an allocated area of public access machines, ensuring they are kept in working order and that areas are equipped with paper, toner etc.
Provide support for teaching technology including computing and audio-visual equipment.
The individual
A team player with proven customer service skills educated to A-level, GNVQ or degree level. Previous experience in an IT support role is not necessary however a proven interest in technology and a desire to gain an appropriate technical qualification such as MCP or A+ is required. The post-holder will have exceptional problem-solving skills as the role requires someone with the ability to work under pressure and deal with customers in a professional and friendly manner.
The department
Customer Services provides support and training for IT and audio-visual equipment and usage to the whole LBS community and the Help Desk provides 1st and 2nd line support and is the focus for all queries and requests for help. The Help Desk team provide a trouble shooting service for all School equipment and systems, this includes PC, laptop and printer maintenance and installation, support for a wide range of desktop and network applications, advice on procurement of new equipment and support for audio visual equipment in the lecture theatre. Support is available 7 days a week from 07:00 to 22:00
